Rev. Lisa Blackwood, Executive Director
Rev. Blackwood oversees the direction as well as the day-by-day operations of Good Neighbors and provides guidance to more than 25 volunteers who participate in all aspects of Good Neighbors' work.

History: 
Good Neighbors was founded in 1996 by the Blount County Ecumenical Action Council as a result of an increase in requests for emergency assistance from neighbors in need. These churches decided to pool their resources so that they might make a greater impact on those they were serving.
Good Neighbors is funded by local area churches, individuals, Blount County Ecumenical Action Council, United Way and other civic groups.  GN also receives Emergency Food and Shelter Funds through FEMA (administered by United Way).

Good Neighbors is a 501c3 non-profit ministry of the Blount County Eccumenical Action Council.  It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Welcome to the newest GN Board member - Kim Chaney-Bay!
Originally from NC, Kim and her family have lived in Alcoa since 1997.  In her professional life, Kim is a Research Associate at the Center for Literacy Studies at UT.  As an active member at Highland Presbyterian, Kim has known of the work of GN for a long time and respected the way in which lives are changed on a person-to-person local level.  “It’s exactly what I think we should be doing,”  she says.  As a new board member, Kim is looking forward to becoming more directly involved in GN work.
